SXSW. You’ve heard of it. It’s “the conference” people like to go to. The Interactive portion is going to be held March 12-16th in Austin, TX. They hold an awards ceremony that will be taking place March 14th. They have 20 different categories they give awards in for new innovative online sites. However, to give awards they need sites and this is where you guys come in.
What new sites (launched in 2009) are you visiting and enjoy? What sites are must-visits for you that have been completely redesigned in 2009? Those are the ones SXSW wants to know about. Suggest to the site owner that he/she enter their site for a SXSW award. If you have a new site or completely redesigned it, enter your site. The deadline to enter is December 18th and there is a $25 fee to enter a site. However, winning an award is a nice perk. SXSW is a well-known gathering and winning an award from SXSW means something. And if you are considering entering, this is the time to whip your site into shape so you can nail an award. Look at the categories, see which one your site would fit best in, and dominate. You know you’d love going to SXSW, hearing your name as a winner, walking up on stage and claiming your award. Don’t even try to act like you wouldn’t enjoy that. You can’t win if you don’t try.
A tip: If you are considering attending SXSW start locking down your hotel arrangements now. Don’t wait until the last minute or you might be sleeping on someone’s floor.
More information on the The 13th Annual SXSW Interactive Web Awards. If you are interested in which panels are being held, I’ve hook you up with information on that as well.
Interesting tidbit: When 9rules won an award, I threw a party. I can tell you from experience, it is a good feeling to win.
Another interesting tidbit: Today is the 4 year anniversary of when my site Not Too Geeky was accepted in 9rules. Wow!!
Good luck…I hope I see your site on the winners list!
