Tyme's thoughts: Blogroll cleanup

Posted on May 28th, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

It’s ironic that Robert Scoble made his post today because for the past couple of days I’ve been struggling with my blogroll. I made some decisions and WOW is it making life easier.
1) I put all FeedBurner feeds in their own category. If FB goes down, I can ignore that folder.
2) I put all link [...]

My Thoughts: Embarassing yourself Part 2

Posted on May 21st, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

Robert Scoble responded to my post about embarrassing yourself. His comments are down so I’m going to post about them here, with confidence he’ll find this post.
I agree 100% about getting to know a blogger and a personal blog is a good way to do that. However a business blog can do this [...]

Why blogs have to have comments

Posted on May 21st, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

A visual aid to help explain what I meant about several points:

Blogs foster conversation.
If your blog doesn’t have comments, it’s not a blog.
If a blogger makes a mistake the blogger needs to correct it (not only the source).

That said, look at the graphic below (click to enlarge it).

It’s a screenshot of RSS Bandit, my RSS [...]

My Thoughts: The RSS Drama

Posted on May 21st, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

Update 2:30pm: In comments here, Amit said this: “The comments were made in a Q & A session in front of 400+ people. Steve did make those comments – I have verified with my peers, the transcripts are not going to change the question or the response – as this is what was said – [...]

My Thoughts: Robert's statement on embarrassing yourself

Posted on May 21st, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

I separated this because it’s a different topic. Robert Scoble posted this on his blog:
By the way, what’s wrong with embarrassing yourself? If you really are going to be transparent and react to a global conversation that happens within minutes you’re bound to embarrass yourself.
It’s what you do after you embarrass yourself that matters.
The problem [...]

What's a blog?

Do you remember the first Xerox machine? They were huge, slow, but wow, did they make like much easier. No more carbon! As with most technology, they evolved. Other machines came out but as a society we decided to call them Xerox machines, even if they were made by another company. Same thing with Kleenex. [...]

My Thoughts: RSS aggregators need improvement

Posted on May 4th, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

I can’t believe I’m typing this, but I wish my RSS aggregator had email program features. There, I said it. Now let me explain:
While dealing with a nuisance computer issue I’ve been thinking about how I want to develop this site – the direction I want to take. The computer issues caused me to re-think [...]

My Thoughts: Response to Thomas Hawk

Posted on April 20th, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

I tried posting this at Robert Scoble’s site but his site is malfunctioning. So here is my response:
Thomas (in his response to me): ok, thank you for the clarification. That was how it came across. I see where you are coming from but your statement is inaccurate – there will be more women upgrading to [...]

Blog burnout

Posted on March 25th, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

There has been a lot of talk about Robert giving up his link blog. I think it was time because he was spreading himself too thin. As per usual with blogs a conversation erupts and this one is about how time consuming a blog can be.
What I fail to understand is why people feel compelled [...]
