Identify your blog, or get tossed

Posted on April 19th, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

I’m in the process of redoing my blogroll. I had to reformat my hard drive (which made me lose my current blogroll). Thankfully I had a copy from mid-march so I’m not too far behind. I’ve mentioned I have a large blogroll and once it hits over 2000 feeds things start to go nuts. I [...]

I asked for it, I got it

Posted on April 18th, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

I mentioned in my podcast that I was going to start commenting more on blogs…and that I regularly edit my blogroll. What happened almost immediately after I posted that podcast? Windows started giving me all kinds of errors:
Your system config file is missing.
Your drive is not formatted.
Your hard drive is going to fail.
Your computer is [...]

I’m listening to the latest For Immediate Release podcast and they had an interesting audio comment regarding the Pew podcast report. How can we (as bloggers) stop ourselves from spreading false information?
The explanation given was a good one. Pew is considered a reliable source so their results would be accepted just like Nielson ratings. The [...]

Yahoo 360

Posted on April 12th, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

I played around with Yahoo 360 this morning and for me it was buggy. I requested a simple URL, it wouldn’t accept it. I uploaded an image but it wouldn’t let me make it primary (like it said it would).

Content You Post
You may only post Content that you created or which the owner of the Content has given you. You may not post or distribute Content that is illegal or that violates these Terms of Service. [...]

Too much information

Posted on March 8th, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

Shel made a post the other day about something I’ve been talking about a long time – privacy. From Shel’s blog:
Go to Google and type in your Area Code and Phone Number. What comes back is your name and address. Then it offers a single click onto Yahoo Maps and MapQuest. When I did this [...]

Understanding RSS

Posted on February 24th, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

From Robert Scoble:
How does that traffic come? Well, in today’s Internet, three ways:
1) Through search engines like MSN, Yahoo, Google.
2) Through main stream media (a link from MSN’s home page, for instance, sent Dave Winer 200,000 visitors) and an article in the New York Times sent more than 10,000 people to ActiveWords’ site, Buzz Bruggeman [...]

My thoughts on Anil's theory

Posted on January 22nd, 2005 by Tyme White in Miscellaneous

Anil Dash has a theory:
I don’t think anyone has ever been fired for blogging.
He’s right – people were fired for being indiscrete, not for blogging. The people were fired for a multitude of reasons as to “what” they posted on their blogs. Some blogged about work. Some blogged about their political beliefs. Some blogged about [...]
