WCG Ultimate Gamer: Episode 2 – Kicking and Screaming
You already watched the episode, right? This week was Drama Week. I suppose gamers have drama too.
Romance
Considerable airtime showed how close Geoff and Kelly were, implying they would be separated. Very ironic Geoff was the most valuable player this week while Amy eliminated Kelly. Geoff is going to be lonely and I wonder if Kelly’s elimination will distract him.
The drama would not have been complete without Dante and Ciji. For the second week, and becoming increasingly annoying, this week was “should Ciji be picked for the challenge?” Remember, this is A Drama Episode. Why pick someone based on strategy when the decision can have a foundation based on emotion?
Strategy
Dante won the isolation challenge and had to pick someone to go against Kelly. Ciji seemed to be the obvious choice if Kelly could beat her in Virtual Fighter because of the drama between Dante and Ciji. Getting rid of Ciji would be in Dante’s favor. Unfortunately, Kelly is not a strong Virtua Fighter 5 gamer so that plan would not work. Since Dante likes Kelly, the only obvious choice was Amy, someone Kelly could potentially beat. It was a good challenge, but Kelly lost.
This week I agree with the choices made. Kelly competing against Amy was a fair fight and those types of battles are more entertaining to watch. Kelly and Amy both had to do their best because the match could have gone either way. Kelly was predictable with her movements, prompting Amy to block her moves. I believe if Kelly was more spontaneous with her moves, she would have won.
Next Week?
If next week has to be a “should we pick Ciji” week, I hope it leads to her elimination. I’d like to learn more about the other players without her drama. Speaking of drama, Dante is full of it but once again, he shows strength under pressure. I would like to see him progress if only to see where his weak points are.
An episode without tears would be lovely. Who knew female gamers are so emotional?
Watch next week be a driving game…
